Nannong Fm
Type Locality and Naming
SW Zhejiang. The Nannong Fm was named by Hu Xiongjian, Xu Jinkun et al. in 1991, The type section is in Zhukeng, Longquan City, Zhejiang Province. It is the uppermost formation in Longquan Gr.
Synonym: (南弄组)
Lithology and Thickness
The Nannong Fm is composed of a metamorphosed basic volcaniclastic rock and carbonate rock series. The lower part is dominated by garnet-bearing biotite leptite [=obsolete term for a fine-grained banded, gneissic rock; often interpreted as metamorphosed volcanics]; the middle part is epidote amphibolite intercalated with marble; the upper part consists of garnet two-mica quartz schist sandwiched with two-mica leptite. It is recorded as over 750 m in its exposed thickness.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
It is in conformable contact with underlying Qingkeng Fm.
Upper contact
Top of the formation is not seen, owing to direct overlap by effusive volcanic rock of Fenping Fm of Upper Jurassic.
Regional extent
SW Zhejiang – N. Fujian. The formation is distributed in Yinchang, Nannong, and Caokeng in Longquan County, Zhejiang Province.
